Historyland

Historyland takes you on an adventure tens of millions of years back, to the time of the giant dinosaurs. Or to the last ice age where you come face to face with a life-size mammoth, giant ground sloth or wisent. The Primal Ocean room was recently opened, where special eye-catchers can be seen such as; the largest shark that ever lived, a rare large tooth of a huge sperm whale and an impressive animation film on a huge screen.

Hunt for gold in the prospectors' village or beat Napoleon in a round of golf. Historyland is a viewing, learning and doing park. And after all the adventure you can splash and splash in the great water play park. History comes to life at Historyland!

Zeehondenopvang A Seal

Seals are cared for and cared for at A Seal Stellendam. These are mainly young seals and seals that are injured or sick. When the seals are completely healthy and able to survive in the wild again, they are released. You can visit these animals!

Open air museum De Duinhuisjes

Open Air Museum De Duinhuisjes has four original dune farms from 1850 to 1910. The houses are furnished in the style that was customary around these years.

 

There is also a pigsty, chicken coop, open wagon shed, wells and a wash house. The whole in a beautiful garden with fruit trees, multicolored flowers and some beehives.

 

During the season there are special children's afternoons, various markets and 'Living History' days on which some volunteers are dressed in traditional costume.

Goat farm the Mekkerstee

At goat farm De Mèkkerstee you will experience the charm of farm life. Experience the wellness of our goats and visit our petting zoo. Enjoy the homemade ice cream in between or visit the restaurant for a delicious cup of coffee with apple pie. In the cheese dairy you can see how the cheese is made and in the farm shop you can find all kinds of regional products.

Bird Observatory Tij

There is a special bird observatory on the edge of the Haringvliet. It is shaped like a sandwich tern's egg. But then 8 meters high and 11 meters long! And you have a 360 degree view over a colony of sandwich terns, but also the wide Haringvliet and the Haringvliet sluices.

 

This special viewing spot was opened in April 2019 as part of the Droomfonds Haringvliet. Vogelbescherming Nederland and Natuurmonumenten have 'laid' this giant egg on the edge of the Scheelhoek bird sanctuary. Via a path with vistas, platforms and traces of deer and beaver you arrive at the Tij bird observatory. Come and enjoy the wealth of birds in the Haringvliet!

 

Visit yourself? Check the water level in advance!

You can visit Tide on your own. If you want to visit Tij, it is wise to check in advance whether Tij is accessible. Especially in autumn and winter it is advisable to put on boots.

Biber-bunkers

In the dunes of Oostvoorne, near the Agathahuis, there is a special bunker from the Second World War. It is the popularly known Biberbunker, made up of 3-metre-thick walls and a 2-metre-thick roof.

The Biberbunker was built as a radar command post for the German Air Force. Here the air raids were intercepted.

 

The Biberbunker can be booked for guided tours and on some days there is a so-called opening.
